how to pay your council tax

Choose from the options below to make your Council Tax payment. Payment should be received on your account by the due date. Some payment types can take up to five working days to be received on your account and if payments are not received by the due date a reminder may be issued.

Direct Debit

Paying by Direct Debit is the easy way to pay. If you do not already use this convenient method and would like to please click on the following link to print off a Direct Debit instruction form:

Alternatively contact us during office hours on 01284 757275 and a member of staff will set a Direct Debit up with you.

Standing Order

A Standing Order can be set up using the following information:

quoting your account reference number.

By telephone (automated 24 hour line)

You can make payments over the telephone using your debit or credit card by telephoning our automated payment line on 01284 757000.

Internet

In Person

You can pay at any Post Office or PayZone outlet but you will need a payment card, which can be ordered by telephone from the Council Tax section on 01284 757275.

By Post

Please send a cheque made payable to St Edmundsbury Borough Council to:

West Suffolk House, Western Way,
Bury St Edmunds Suffolk, IP33 3YU.

Please write your account number on the back of your cheque. Post dated cheques are not accepted.

Cash is not accepted at any of the St Edmundsbury Offices. However, you can pay using your Debit Card.
