NNDR, Recovery and Overpayments
National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR)
Revenues Officers in the NNDR team are responsible for the billing, collection and recovery of non-domestic rates, otherwise known as business rates. They liaise with all departments of ARP as well as our partner councils, and external agencies. Excellent communication skills are vital as they frequently assist customers with their queries both by telephone and in writing.
Recovery Officer
A Recovery Officer assists in the collection and recovery of Council Tax and Housing Benefit Overpayments, making sure Council Tax income is received promptly and efficiently. Attention to detail is important as maintaining and updating records, databases, processing recovery actions and reviewing reports is an important part of the role. Excellent customer service is required as our Recovery team negotiates payments, liaise about cases with internal departments, DWP (Department for Work and Pensions) and external agencies.
Overpayments
Our officers undertake a full range of recovery duties to ensure that all monies owed in respect of housing benefit overpayments and other charges are promptly and efficiently collected. The Overpayments team speak to the public to make appropriate enquiries to ascertain relevant circumstances, negotiate payments, set up arrangements and monitor the subsequent recovery. Where necessary, cases are referred to the bailiffs or collection agents to deal with subsequent enquiries.
