Revenues Officer (NDR) - Breckland Council

Applicant Advice

Applications are welcome from any individual meeting the criteria outlined in the job description and person specification. Selection will be made based on suitability to carry out the duties of the job. We are looking for applicants who share our ARP Values and are committed to serving our community.

The following advice may help you complete your application successfully:

  • Have your personal details, employment history and qualifications readily available.
  • Read the information found in the job description, person specification and core values, to make sure that your application is relevant to the job.
  • You must account for any gaps in your employment history in full using the free text sections in the application form.
  • Please provide details of any significant learning events and professional qualifications you have that are applicable to the role.
  • Please complete the monitoring data section as we aim to remain an equal opportunities employer and monitoring the effectiveness of our recruitment processes. The selection panel will not see this information.
  • Wherever possible, correspondence will be sent by email so it is important that you also provide a valid email address.
  • Please complete the employment section to include all of your previous posts, voluntary posts or work experience. You must account for all the time since you left school, college or university. It is advisable to explain any periods of time when you were not in paid employment or studying.
  • You will be required to provide full contact and employer details of references so ensure they are aware that we may contact them. Referees who are relatives/friends are not acceptable. Difficulties in contacting referees and obtaining references may affect the time it takes to confirm an offer of appointment.
  • Deliberately providing false or inaccurate information or omitting to provide information requested could result in your application being disqualified.

Please note that ARP have a flexible approach to recruitment including telephone and video interviewing, online induction and blended training. These may be remotely or face to face. Therefore, candidates need to be able to work in the office and from home and have the facilities to do so. All ICT equipment will be provided on commencement with ARP.

We will notify you of the outcome of your application after shortlisting, although the timescales for this may vary according to the individual arrangements for the selection process for each job.

We may use ability tests, assessment centres and/or occupational personality questionnaires as part of the selection process. Further information is provided to applicants, at the appropriate stage, if assessments are to be used as part of the selection process.

Please let us know in advance if you have a disability or have any other access requirements so we can ensure that you are able to fully participate in the interview process.

If the position you are interested in warrants contact with children, the elderly or other vulnerable people then you may be required to undertake a Criminal Records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly the Criminal Records Bureau).  A disclosure is usually only carried out on successful candidates who have been selected for appointment, and any offer of employment will be conditional subject to the satisfactory completion of these checks. Your offer of appointment may therefore be withdrawn if your checks are not clear although having a criminal record will not necessarily preclude you from obtaining a position with the council.

Successful applicants will also need to provide identification documents, in person,  as a check for the Right to Work in the UK.
